Corporate* Connections in the Occupation of Palestine
Economic opportunities are abound in the blood Western pharmaceutical and transportation industries.
The limitations on Palestinian healthcare services due to the conflict create an economic opportunity for Israeli pharmaceutical and transportation industries. The restricted market scenario, where the transportation and availability of goods, including medical supplies, are severely limited, leads to increased demand for these goods. Israeli companies are positioned to meet this demand, benefiting economically from the situation.
The near-total restriction on goods passing through alternative routes, like those from Egypt, grants the Israeli transportation sector a monopoly over essential supply lines. Besides permitting Israeli actors to dictate the flow of essential resources, the exclusivity also generates and consolidates Israel’s monopoly over the resulting revenue through various logistic and service costs and fees. The closure of supply routes, especially tunnels used for fuel transportation, exacerbates the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. As a result, thousands of injured Palestinian civilians and healthcare providers must struggle to rely on generators without ample resources to run them.
Many patients in Gaza must attempt to seek medical treatment in Israeli facilities. While the Palestinian Authority covers the treatment costs, it's the patients and their families who are responsible for covering the costs of transport and accommodation in Israel. This includes patients who have been injured in attacks by the Israeli military. The apparent contradiction sheds some light on reasons underlying US interest in providing ‘aid’ to Palestine despite continuing to take an active role in Israeli military operations.
The United States is the primary instigator of the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict. cruelly dubbed “humanitarian aid” emanating from the United States to Palestinian Authority deceptively supports the West’s genocidal foreign policy objectives in the Middle East while lining the pockets of Western cooperate interests. This is done at an immeasurable human cost wherein Palestinian lives are cavalierly discarded. The ethnic and eugenicist motivations used to try to justify the subjugation of an entire group of people are eerily reminiscent. In the US news-media, the aid serves as a way to mollify international and domestic criticism of the U.S.'s hegemonic policies and instigative role in the conflict.
Disingenuous international agreements are the hallmark of Western foreign policy. In this context specifically, the Oslo Accords were a process of subcontracting the occupation Palestinian Authority (PA) which was created to manage the occupation on behalf of Israel. This strategy designed for war is a black mark on the legacy of the American nation, where it will be remembered in history for this ongoing and truly unnecessary slaughter.
