Haitian Citizens Protest Illegal US-Backed Government
Blood-bat imperialists acting precisely as expected, with equally predictable results. . .
Protests have erupted for the third consecutive day in the Haiti, with citizens demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henri, who refuses to step down despite the fact that his term officially ended on February 7, 2024. Henri and his historical connection with the US government give the Haitian people good reason to raise hell on the island as he was appointed to the position only after his predecessor, Jovenel Moïse, was curiously assassinated in 2021.
The US is interested in Haiti because it offers a buffer against influence from Cuba and Venezuela as well as influence in the regions oil industry (PetroCaribe). The island’s value to American Imperialist interests have been well understood by the establishment since the first occupation in 1915. An anti-imperialist revolution in Haiti right now would diminish the efficacy of the West’s war on Venezuela, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, as well as opening the door for future problems maintaining hegemonic control over the Dominican Republic. The US has even gone as far as to establish a military presence in the form of a joint border protection force called CESFRONT on the Haitian-Dominican border. Interestingly, CESFRONT also operates in on the Gaza border in the Middle East.
Western media portrays the current chaos unfolding in Haiti as a “gang problem,” it could more appropriately be referred to as an armed uprising—something Haitians have plenty of experience with. I should note here that Daddy Prigozhin’s infamous Wagner PMC began military training with undisclosed groups in Haiti as late as last year, and can be reasonably expected to have a continued presence in the region. The most active protests currently unfolding are primarily near the Haitian administrative center in Enche, where they have caused significant disruption in the day to day activities of the region. The protests have already lead to multiple deaths at the hands of the US-backed government and its militarized police force.
Ariel Henri, who was never democratically elected, has a history of inviting foreign militaries to the island against his own people. Considering the support he has continually received from the US, this isn’t surprising. Even more appalling is the international community’s willingness to do so, even in organization that claim to be proponents of democracy and national sovereignty such as the United Nations.
The US will never stop interfering with other nations and violating their sovereignty to serve its own interests at the cost of countless human lives. Besides the fact that such behaviors fly in the face of US rhetoric surrounding relations with Israel, Taiwan, and Ukraine, they also show the level of trust that can be reasonably placed in the American government, media, and subsequently the understanding of its citizens. It’s a sordid affair - the whole lot of it.
