The Australians Fighting for Peace and Free Press
Demonstrations in Australia demand freedom of press and criticize NATO. The next rally is scheduled for Wednesday, May 24th, at 10 am in Hyde Park, Sydney, Australia.
Freedom rallies in Australia are expressing their support for the Russian Federation in demonstrations led by family members of imprisoned Australian journalist Julian Assange. While Australia may not seem like a likely home for such demonstrations, the government's severe response to the COVID epidemic is one of many events in recent years that shed light on restricted press and tyrannical overreach in Australia. The deceptive narrative surrounding Ukraine and the imminent risks posed by the conflict emphasize the vital role of a free and unfiltered press, especially when the looming threat of nuclear conflict is involved.
Guided by Assange’s father, John Shipton, the paraphrased words of Assange were proudly displayed in Sydney, reading "If wars can be started by lies, peace can be started by truth.” Crowds of over 3,000 people gathered in support, although some protesters suggest an even larger gathering.
Australia's state-funded broadcasting organization, ABC, desperate to keep the growing support for Russia under the radar, blamed imaginary "Russian secret services" for the rallies through unsupported accusations and misrepresented video footage—a disingenuous yet effective form of war propaganda. The goal is thought control, suppressing any thoughts that question NATO's assumed divine right to global hegemony. The truth remains that there exists a widespread and passionate support for Vladimir Putin and notable Russian figures like Alexander Dugin. A speech delivered by the Russian president during this year's commemoration of 'Victory Day,' which marks the triumph over the Second World War, predominantly thanks to the valor of the Red Army, sheds light on the underlying reasons fueling this support.
"We believe that any ideology of superiority is inherently disgusting." - from Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Victory Day address. He is referring, of course, to the dictatorial and arrogant nature of international organizations such as NATO and the EU, which consider Russian culture and ethnic slavs as inferior.
While protests in Australia indicate a weakening hold of the anti-Russian sentiment prevalent in the English-speaking world, the intentional blind eye and outright dismissal from the press offer little hope. Unfortunately, journalists with traditional ethical standards are punished and silenced by any means necessary, as in the case of Assange, currently confined in a UK prison. His recent letter to King Charles III, as well as Tucker Carlson’s recent fallout with Fox, provide some insight into the risks journalists around the globe are currently facing. It may be time for Atlantic societies to reevaluate, redefine, and reestablish ‘Western values,’ to determine if underhanded military provocation is in-line.
The Australian government's attempts to silence pro-Russian activist Simeon Boikov have gone far enough, preventing him from attending the ongoing demonstrations (which he helped organize) and forcing him to seek refuge from potential arrest in the Russian Consulate building in Sydney. Referred to online as the 'Aussie Cossack,' Boikov represents a significant population in Australia who condemn international organizations like NATO for endless wars and the WHO for deceitfully advertised COVID vaccines.
In a democratic society, the importance of an informed public cannot be overstated. A misguided public, easily swayed by the vested interests of the elite, can veer off course like lemmings rushing toward the cliffs of tyranny and degradation.
An informed public is a crucial aspect of democratic society, as an ignorant public can easily be led astray by the political and financial interests of the elite. This is why freedom of the press and journalists like Assange are so important. Without them, society members become lemmings rushing toward the cliffs of tyranny and degradation.
